Village Park Restaurant @ Damansara Utama

Village Park Restaurant is well-known of the famous Nasi Lemak in Klang Valley. The restaurant located at Damansara Uptown which is always crowded. I always reluctant to wait for a seat when I was young. That time there is one unit of shoplot. Currently they had extended into two units shoplot, it is much more spacious and tables to cater the crowd.

Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng @ RM7.50
This is the most wanted Nasi Lemak in Village Park. Comes with some cucumbers, ikan bilis, fried ground nuts, hard boiled egg and the chili sambal. The rice was nicely cooked with coconut milk fragrance. Best mix with the sambal and ikan bilis itself. Glad the sambal is not very spicy, it is slightly sweet with lots of onions in it.
The ayam goreng generously a big whole thigh. It was fried till golden brown in color and very aromatic. Marinated with their secret recipe, the skin is so crispy with spices taste so delicious.

Fish Ball Noodle Soup @ RM5.50
The fish ball noodle comes with lots of fish balls, fish cake, fu chok and lettuce. The fish ball is very bouncy but taste is just mild. I just like the fish cake and fu chuk in this bowl of noodle soup because they taste better. The fish ball soup is not standardise. I think it depends who is the chef. Sometimes it's quite tasteless like water.

Cham Tarik
The cham tarik which mix of coffee and teh is very thick in taste and tarik till very smooth texture. The sweetness is just alright to take care of our health, its not very sweet afterall.

Tropical Blend @ RM3.70
I like this tropical blend with the mix of pineapple, orange, and carrot. Very refreshing and cooling.

Pontian Wanton Noodles @ SS15, Subang Jaya

Pontian Wanton Noodles shop has been opening several outlets in the Klang Valley. I always feel the chinese name 笨珍 funny. I totally din't aware that they are a restaurant selling wanton noodles and laksa until one day my friend took me there for makan.

Pontian Wanton Noodle (w char siew) @ RM4.50
The noodle is top with 2 deep fried wanton, few pieces char siew and some veges. I love the deep fried wanton because it's very crispy and taste pretty well. Noodle is springy too. There are 3 types of sauces to be picked on for the noodles: original soy sauce, chili sauce and tomato sauce.
Besides, they have this pickled green chili is so sourish delicious. Recently is hard to find in normal restaurants because most of the restaurant are lazy to prepare it.

Pontian Wanton Soup
Dry noodle comes with a bowl of soup and 2 wanton in it. The soup broth is quite good and taste strong. Although the soup wanton is quite tiny but can really feel some meat in it.

Pontian Char Siew Noodle @ RM10.90

Pontian Wanton Noodle (only wanton) @ RM10.90
The wanton only noodles without char siew comes with 4 deep fried wan tan (2 extra for replacing the char siew). The wan tan meat is actually little too small piece, can't even feel it if i'm not concentrating.

Pontian Noodle (w Chicken Feet)
The chicken feet are braised perfectly with the black sauce taste. The skin is so soft and easily tear. This time i order the noodle with tomato sauce. It taste funny like just mixing with kimball tomato sauce but its quite unique and the more I eat the more I accepted the taste.

Pontian Curry Laksa @ RM10.90
Their curry laksa is rich with coconut milk and very thick broth. The taste is bit mild therefore mixing with the chili paste enhance the taste better. Inside comes with fu chuk, hard boil egg, cockles, bean sprout, and some mint sauce on top.

Red Bean @ RM10.90
Red bean is quite diluted and it comes with sago in it too. Very sweet piece of dessert.

Lime Jelly Ice @ RM10.90
This is really very refreshing. Comes with jelly and sourish lime, flavourful and cooling.

Not too bad overall. Price is cheap and reasonable. Instead of having it at those hawker stall which is so hot, may as well enjoy my meal in an air conditional shop.

Serai @ Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang

SERAI Restaurant at Empire Subang features a choice range of Malay, Thai and Western specialities. It is quite a nice and relaxing dining place. Is full house during lunch time even on weekdays.

Minted Calamansi Soda @ RM10.50
This is one of their signature drink. It tasted sourish, sweet and so refreshing with the lime and mint.

Satay Chicken @ RM15.00
This is the first time I tasted a super tender chicken satay. As satay I used to eat is mostly quite hard, but this is totally quite soft like just perfectly cooked. Very meaty and juicy, goes well with the satay peanut sauce.

Nasi Lemak @ RM16.00
Friends ordered Serai's signature nasi lemak. Comes with a huge chicken drumstick that surprised us. Is quite a big portion of nasi lemak served with sambal prawns, crispy ikan bilis, cucumber, peanut and 1/2 hard boiled egg. The chicken is marinated well with special spices and roasted aroma.

Sang Har Yin Yong @ RM19.00
I ordered this sang har noodle but was quite disappointed as the taste is not up to my expectation. Too salty of the gravy and noodle has no ''wok'' fried taste. Something to highlight, the ''sang har'' prawn although looks small and cute but is tasty and quite fresh.

After all, a nice ambiance for a corporate lunch here. Will be back to try out other food and desserts.

Jom Bali Cafe @ Carrefour Subang Jaya

Jombali is located at Subang Jaya Carrefour. They are serving the local malayasian cuisine. The food served very slow and they are like lack of staff because it is hard to call them. The waiter waitress are always very busy.

Sambal spaghetti with chicken
Its a mix of malay and western style. The spaghetti is fried with sambal paste, tasted sour and spicy. The chicken is disappointed because its not tender and tasteless.

Ginger Barley with Honey
It taste sweet and interesting with the ginger taste.

Kantonis Fried Sang Mee
Jombali serving set lunch during weekdays from 11.00am to 3.00pm. At the price of RM10.90 you get a main dish and a glass of drink.
It actually looks nice when served. The noodles are not still very crunchy although after soaking in the hot gravy for some time. Disappointed me again, the gravy is almost tasteless. We had to add on black soy sauce to enhance the flavour. Not to mention other ingredients, the prawns itself taste very artificial. It's almost transparent and no natural sweet taste at all besides crunchy.

Firewood Roaste Ice Coffee
Got a free drink with a nice name of Firewood Roaste Ice Coffee. Tasted just like normal ice coffee but at least better than the expectation of the noodle.

H & H Restaurant and Catering @ Kota Damansara

H & H serves the local cuisine. I knew this restaurant since I was a kid. H&H are famous on catering for functions and parties. They are now located at the Kota Damansara.

One of their specialties is always the Set Meal for 4, inclusive of all favourites that save our time and effort to think what to order.

Choice of 4 dishes for just less than RM50.00
1. Curry Fish Head or Assam Fish Head
2. Kapitan Chicken or Claypot Chicken
3. Fried Crispy Sotong or Baked Towfoo
4. Selection of Vegetables

Kapitan Chicken
This is served with 2 huge drumstick and thigh. The chicken is super tender and the gravy is thick and flavourful.

Curry Fish Head
The fish head is fresh and comes tofu pok, ladies fingers, eggplant, long beans, cabbage etc. I like the curry sauce which is thick with coconut and little sourish assam. Best to serve with white rice.

Fried Crispy Sotong
Another delight of mine. the Sotong is super fresh and crispy. The flour is not thick yet flavourful. It's like a plate of snack food.

Stir Fried Kangkung
After all spicy and curry dishes, we order this with just garlic fried. The kangkung is crunchy and green with the flavourful of oyster sauce.

Cendol with Red Bean
Additional order this for dessert. Quite flavourful gula melaka but the coconut milk is quite powderish. I still prefer the Penang Famous Cendol style.

Daiki Cafe @ Subang Jaya

Daiki Cafe is sort of a Japanese cafe that also serve the local specialities like nasi lemak, curry noodle, ayam masak merah etc.

Mee Jawa @ RM5.90
The mee jawa decently looks delicious with the yellowish gravy. It comes with bean sprout, crackers, fish paste, potatoes, dry bean curd, lettuce and sprinkle with lots of sesame. The yellowish gravy made from potatoes are thick and aromatic, especially after squeezing the lime juice in it enrich the taste to be sourish. The crackers turns soft fast but flavourful soaking in the gravy.

Kueh Teow Soup @ RM5.90
This is a soup noodle with all sorts of fish paste, fish ball, fish tofu and green vegetables. It looks dull and blend from the look but it's actually quite flavourful despite the clear soup. Generous pieces of fish ball and fish tofu. The fish ball is not bouncy but fresh and meaty. However, i feel so thirsty after the lunch. The soup might have added too much ajinomoto thats why is so flavourful.

Fried Mee & Mee Hoon @ RM3.60
This looks like those economic fried noodle, that comes with fried onions, bean sprout, cabbage and lettuce. Fried with the black soy sauce, its quite tastety actually. Serving with their special sambal belacan, does enhance the taste. A simple dish suitable for tea time or a small eater for lunch.

Barley Lemon @ RM2.50
It tasted very refreshing with the lemon juice in it. Sourish and cooling. Good for digestions too.

SS20 Fish Head Noodle @ Damansara Kim

Happen to know this famous restaurant from NikelKhor.com. Thx Nikel !!

That night i went there with my parents. Its located at Damansara Kim, same row as the Super Tanker Chinese Restaurant. The road is quite dark after the chinese restaurant, but no worry as the SS20 Fish Head Noodle sign board is super bright, you wont missed out the restaurant.

There are several newspaper cutting and blogs article reviews sticked all over the wall. This restaurant is quite well-known in the town area.

Soya milk with cincau @ RM3.30
Soya milk is smooth and nice. Heard that they are famous selling soya milk in TTDI before this biz.

3 types of Main Course Fish noodle:
The originals come with Fine Mee Hoon while the choice of Lai Fun and Thick Mee Hoon will have an extra RM0.50 charge. We ordered all for thick mee hoon, because is the best for fish head noodle.

Haruan Fish head noodle (生魚片) @ RM10.00
comes with original mix Fry and Non-fry OR you may request for just Fry or Non-fry.

Soong Fish head noodle (松魚) @ RM8.50

Fish paste (魚滑) @ RM8.00
The fish paste is quite chewy

All noodle come with 4 pieces of fish. The soong fish is quite thick.

Their fish-flavoured broth added Chinese Sweet Rice wine (花雕酒) in it. Remember to inform the waiter to reduce or exclude the wine if you can't take alcohol. Hahaa coz we are not aware and half way of the meal, i saw my mum's face was red like a tomato!! (she cant take alcohol, but she normally can take cooking alcohol, just don't know why this she gotten so red)

As for the taste, i personally feel it can be more sourish. May be i love sour type of fish head noodle. This is bit too mild and because the noodle is tasteless it really needs strong flavoured broth soup to balance up. After all i will still prefer the Home Made Fish Head noodle at Dataran Sunway, which i blogged few years back. Haven't got the updated post yet.

Dazzling Cafe - White Coffee @ Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara {CLOSED DOWN}

Passby this cafe several times but always thought is a place for steak or western food, coz of their deco. However, after renovation plus the banner ''white coffee'' promotion catch my eye to explore this cafe. (a western restaurant odd to serve white coffee right? haha)

The owner is a Penang-lang. This is one of their outlet after a few in Penang city. Their white coffee are  from Penang and home-made ''secret recipe''.

saw this baby gal on their menu.. must be the owner's child..

clean and nice environment

Currently special promotion - white coffee @ RM1.00 only (until 30st July 2011)
Unlike the instant Ipoh white coffee, they made it lighter but not missed the coffee taste. Even their usual price of RM2.80 worth the price too!

Fresh mushroom soup @ RM5.90
see the generous olive oil on top... and the thickness mushroom soup..... yummy !!

Tuna & Mayonnaise club sandwich @ RM5.90
its delicious and their generous vege salad... mum love it

Fried Kuey Teow in Creamy Sauce @ RM8.90
Not bad too... din't expect the ''wok taste'' from a cafe like this.

They have all kinds of fusion food... from several kinds of egg & toast, waffle, local cuisine eg nasi lemak, curry mee, western cuisine eg chicken chop, fish & chips, Penang food eg. chee cheong fun... to Desserts eg ice cream, tong shui, ice blended....etc

Other outlets in Penang and Kedah, mostly serving local food.

Miss Kwan's (Tasty Recipes) @ Suria KLCC

Looking for food at KLCC last weekend. A huge Miss Kwan's signboard caught my eyesight when i look up from Ground Floor. Wonder when does Mdm Kwan change their name or how dare a new Cafe stolen ''kwan'' name?? Hahhaa

I went up Level 4 to have a look. Mdm Kwan is actually a few doors away. Mss Kwan's corner is selling local food such as nasi lemak, asam laksa etc, like normal cafes where you order the food at the counter. The food pictures looks good so we have our lunch there. After asking the cashier, they are actually under the same management of Madam Kwan. Probably is Mdm Kwan's daughter who opens it. ^.^

Not much choices from the menu as compare with Mdm Kwan. Tasty meals come with a cold drink of a choice of ice lemon tea, mineral water or umbra juice. While the side order set (breakfast) comes with a hot drink of coffee or tea.

my Nasi Lemak Set @ RM17.90
the archar (nyonya vege pickles) is quite spicy but nice to eat

the nasi lemak served with curry chicken looks so tempting. it comes with some chicken floss which is the specialties of ''Mdm Kwan'' nasi lemak.

umbra juice

Breakfast set - Toast and Half boil egg @ RM6.90

However, the half boil egg is abit disappointed. First egg was a HARD boil egg, they replaced with the 2nd one which was half boiled, half uncooked. But surprisingly the egg yolk is over boiled. Its so weird that I wonder how they prepared it.

Can drop by here for their nasi lemak if Mdm Kwan is over crowded when you need to queue for a table. Just few steps/ units away from Mdm Kwan.
