Restoran Soon Hock 順福家鄉飯店 @ Sungai Buloh

Came across Restoran Soon Hock through a friend. The restaurant is located at Desa Aman which take the 3rd turning at the round about of Sierramas Sg Buloh. Go further in at the left side will see this 2 story building. Beware the roads are quite bumpy.

Restoran Soon Hock
The Restaurant owner ran out of the restaurant when seeing us puzzling where to park our car. He lead us to a proper space and mention that any where can be park even in front of the 2 houses next to the restaurant and opposite has a covered car park too.

Coconut @ RM4.00
I order a coconut first due to the hot weather recently. It's not sweet but very cooling with a mild coconut taste.

Steamed Tilapia - RM23
This is one of their signature dish - Ka Heong Steam Fish (家鄉蒸魚). The fish is almost 1/3 soaking in the soy soup broth with lots of sliced mushroom, to fu, tofu pok, black seaweed, spring onions, ginger, garlic and etc. The soup is sweet and taste bit like there are chinese wine added. Its quite spicy too with the chili padi in it.

Salted Egg Bittergourd @ RM10.00
The bittergrourd is sliced super thin and deep fried with salted egg. It is perfectly crispy and aromatic taste of salted egg tasted like snacks. I can hardly feel the bitterness of the bitter gourd. It taste something like fried potato.

Fried Tofu with Pumpkin sauce @ RM12
The whole metal bowl is full of pumpkin sauce. It's like a golden treasure box. Many ''treasure'' inside besides the fried tofu, there are also generous of green peas, prawns, button mushroom, and bottom is a layer of steamed egg. I enjoy my rice with the pumpkin gravy.

Fried paku vege with sambal belacan @ RM10.00
The paku vege match well with the sambal belacan. It is quite crunchy and smooth.

The food portion served here is actually quite big although we order all smallest portion. Price is reasonable too despite just behind the high-end area. Total bill comes to RM55 for 3 person excluding the drinks.

Winter Lover Bakery House @ The Strand, Kota Damansara

Winter Lover Bakery House is located at the Strand, Kota Damansara, a row behind Alliance and OCBC Bank. It's at the first floor above the KungFu cafe. A bakery house that features in Mille Crepes, Macarons and Flower Tea.

A very clean and cozy environment for relaxing especially during the weekends or holiday. The first cafe I experienced to leave our shoes/ slippers outside. I can feel like walking bare-foot at home. Plus, the wooden flooring are quite clean and non-dusty.

Out of the above, I love the 3 in 1 mille crepe the most as it tasted just like soft ice cream cake. The mango mille crepe is very flavourful too. Strawberry and Rum & Raisin mille crepe is the most popular among my friends. Their mille crepe is not very thick creamy type that I don't feel much jelat after eating much. I don't really fond of the macarons, too sweet for me.

All mille crepe are @ RM9.90 each. Currently they are having the promotion of buy 10 at the price of 9. There are more than 18 choices of Mille Crepe available here and some are seasonable or limited edition i.e., Musang King Durian Mille Crepe that is only serve in Weekends on first come first serve basis.

Dontaku Ramen Japanese Restaurant @ 1 Utama

Dontaku is a Japanese Restaurant located at the lower Ground of 1U shopping centre. They are specialised in Ramen, bento sets and hot pot sets. Nice japanese decoration and photos all over the wall and also the ceiling.

Salmon Sashimi @ RM12.80
It comes with 5 pieces of salmon, fresh lettuce, threaded white radish, some preserved ginger and wasabi. With the price given, i would request for a better and thicker chunk of salmon sashimi. Their salmon is abit darker in colour but luckily tasted fresh. Besides, the white radish are juicy with strong aroma of radish.

Weekend Special Bento Set @ RM19.80
This is a pork meat set inclusive of a hot pot, tempura, sushi, salad, gohan, pork chop, pork char siew and 3 type of pork pickles. The hot pot comes with many sliced of pork meat, cabbage, and bean sprout.

Shabu Hot Pot
The pork meat texture is like shabu shabu because the meat is so thin and attached half portion of fats. It not very flavourful but got the natural sweet taste and dipping in the sesame shoyu sauce makes it delicious.

Side dishes
Tempura is prepared fresh that comes with a prawn, eggplant, ladies finger, and sweet potato. The crumbs are very crispy and flavourful with the tempura shoyu sauce inclusive of garnish radish. The sushi roll with tiny crabmeat stick tasted normal.

Side dishes
Two sliced of pork meat and pork chop at the side tasted tender and crispy. A bit oily from the pork chop though. The 3 pork pickles are quite similar ingredients. The only thing can differentiate is the color of the sauce. They tasted, salty, sweet and miso respectively.

Hot Green Tea @ RM2.00 (refillable)

Village Park Restaurant @ Damansara Utama

Village Park Restaurant is well-known of the famous Nasi Lemak in Klang Valley. The restaurant located at Damansara Uptown which is always crowded. I always reluctant to wait for a seat when I was young. That time there is one unit of shoplot. Currently they had extended into two units shoplot, it is much more spacious and tables to cater the crowd.

Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng @ RM7.50
This is the most wanted Nasi Lemak in Village Park. Comes with some cucumbers, ikan bilis, fried ground nuts, hard boiled egg and the chili sambal. The rice was nicely cooked with coconut milk fragrance. Best mix with the sambal and ikan bilis itself. Glad the sambal is not very spicy, it is slightly sweet with lots of onions in it.
The ayam goreng generously a big whole thigh. It was fried till golden brown in color and very aromatic. Marinated with their secret recipe, the skin is so crispy with spices taste so delicious.

Fish Ball Noodle Soup @ RM5.50
The fish ball noodle comes with lots of fish balls, fish cake, fu chok and lettuce. The fish ball is very bouncy but taste is just mild. I just like the fish cake and fu chuk in this bowl of noodle soup because they taste better. The fish ball soup is not standardise. I think it depends who is the chef. Sometimes it's quite tasteless like water.

Cham Tarik
The cham tarik which mix of coffee and teh is very thick in taste and tarik till very smooth texture. The sweetness is just alright to take care of our health, its not very sweet afterall.

Tropical Blend @ RM3.70
I like this tropical blend with the mix of pineapple, orange, and carrot. Very refreshing and cooling.

Pontian Wanton Noodles @ SS15, Subang Jaya

Pontian Wanton Noodles shop has been opening several outlets in the Klang Valley. I always feel the chinese name 笨珍 funny. I totally din't aware that they are a restaurant selling wanton noodles and laksa until one day my friend took me there for makan.

Pontian Wanton Noodle (w char siew) @ RM4.50
The noodle is top with 2 deep fried wanton, few pieces char siew and some veges. I love the deep fried wanton because it's very crispy and taste pretty well. Noodle is springy too. There are 3 types of sauces to be picked on for the noodles: original soy sauce, chili sauce and tomato sauce.
Besides, they have this pickled green chili is so sourish delicious. Recently is hard to find in normal restaurants because most of the restaurant are lazy to prepare it.

Pontian Wanton Soup
Dry noodle comes with a bowl of soup and 2 wanton in it. The soup broth is quite good and taste strong. Although the soup wanton is quite tiny but can really feel some meat in it.

Pontian Char Siew Noodle @ RM10.90

Pontian Wanton Noodle (only wanton) @ RM10.90
The wanton only noodles without char siew comes with 4 deep fried wan tan (2 extra for replacing the char siew). The wan tan meat is actually little too small piece, can't even feel it if i'm not concentrating.

Pontian Noodle (w Chicken Feet)
The chicken feet are braised perfectly with the black sauce taste. The skin is so soft and easily tear. This time i order the noodle with tomato sauce. It taste funny like just mixing with kimball tomato sauce but its quite unique and the more I eat the more I accepted the taste.

Pontian Curry Laksa @ RM10.90
Their curry laksa is rich with coconut milk and very thick broth. The taste is bit mild therefore mixing with the chili paste enhance the taste better. Inside comes with fu chuk, hard boil egg, cockles, bean sprout, and some mint sauce on top.

Red Bean @ RM10.90
Red bean is quite diluted and it comes with sago in it too. Very sweet piece of dessert.

Lime Jelly Ice @ RM10.90
This is really very refreshing. Comes with jelly and sourish lime, flavourful and cooling.

Not too bad overall. Price is cheap and reasonable. Instead of having it at those hawker stall which is so hot, may as well enjoy my meal in an air conditional shop.

Kalamazoo Cafe @ Aman Suria

Introduce by a friend to this unique Cafe. Kalamazoo Cafe is located at the end of Aman Suria just a few shops away from Betty’s Midwest Kitchen. Not everywhere you get to have non-halal food but here do. Kalamazoo cafe serves pork in western style !

KALAMAZOO

Pork Loins @ RM15.90
What a special dish that i hardly find in most restaurants. The loins' part of a pig. The meat are oven baked topped with pineapple chutney. Sides are mashed potato and long beans. The loins meat looks whitish in colour, quite chewy and it's not tender enough. For those who like lean meat, will like this because no fats at all. The combination of the sauce is weird that brings a sweet taste on the pork.

Callahan’s Roast Chicken @ RM14.90
It was served with a big piece of drumstick, beded with mashed potato with some lettuce, tomato and cucumber at the side. The chicken is well roasted with the skin roasted dark brownish. The meat is quite tender and juicy serving with the sauce. I like the mashed potato soft and sandy.

Pork Burger @ RM13.50
The pork burger is stacked up with soft bun, lettuce with mayonnaise, pork patty, melted cheese, and tomato. Don't worry with dirtying your hands. It is nice to hold it tight with both hands, biting it will splash out some of their homemade sauce.

Sauces
They even added effort on the sauce served. This is really something special and unique.

Restoran Kong Sai (广西仔) @ SS15, Subang Jaya

My ex-boss has been bring us for lunch at Kong Sai Zai quite frequently. It's located at the busiest area of SS15, hardly get a car park space there but if turn in from the back lane, Restoran Kong Sai has actually a open space car park in between 2 corner shop lots of theirs (one with zircon one without).

Quarter Chicken (lower part) @ RM16.00
Restoran Kong Sai is famous of their steamed chicken. A must to order when dine in here. They serve Village Chicken (菜园鸡), those which are more tender than the Kampung Chicken. The chicken meat is so smooth and no hard or springy at all.

Special Sauce
One of their specialties is also on this unique sauce. Combination of spring onion, fried onions, fried oil, oyster sauce etc. It has the fragrance taste that is quite similar to ppl using ''minced ginger'' sauce.

Trotters in Vinegar (猪脚醋) @ RM12.00 (small)/ RM15.00 (medium)/ RM18.00 (large)
This is also one of the dish we will always order at Restoran Kong Sai. Their portion is big too, the picture above is just small pot. The trotters are marinated and braised till the meat is juicy with the vinegar soup. Especially the soft bone pork is so nice. I personally love the vinegar soup so much because it's not extremely sour or thick.

Fu Yu Yau Mak @ RM8.00 (small)/ RM10.00 (medium)/ RM12.00 (large)
Stir fried with spicy bean curd and garlics. It looks whitish in color and taste salty.

Fried omelet @ RM8.00 (large)/ RM6.00 (small)
The omelet was nicely fried. It's quite thick too with the generous of prawns, red chill, onions, spring onions, dry radish. Its simply nice with the crunchy dry radish and crispy outer layer. I think i can finish up the whole plate by myself.

Double Boiled Soup @ RM5.00 each
They are quite famous and particular with their boiled soup 炖汤. This time we order the watercress and old cucumber soup. Both soup tasted so rich and thick. It comes with a big bowl, huge portion for a pax. Each bowl can actually divided into small 5 bowls. Worth for sharing.
