Sushi Zanmai @ Fahrenheit 88

Actually have been eating Sushi Zanmai since last year, but never blog before. Last weekend went KL and was given this promotion voucher at Fahrenheit 88's main entrance. Got this similar voucher last 2 months and ate it before. This is my second visit to Fahrenheit 88 outlet. (this voucher only until 31st March 2011, but they keep coming out with new vouchers for this outlet ONLY. May be because its still new and crowds are not much yet, compared to PJ branches which are always in long queue)

Ocha @ RM1.00
I love their green tea. very rich in taste and smooth to drink it.

Parents love their marinated Ginger. Very sour and spicy!! Plus they are not ''colored'' like some japanese restaurant serve pink ginger. You can just request from the waiter, its FOC.

Cha Soba (Small) - RM8.80
After eating the ginger, have a bite of the cold soba will neutralize the spice. This green tea soba is more chewy, 彈牙 and it doesn't jive much with the soy sauce provided. I prefer the wheat soba instead of this.

5 piece salmon sashimi @ RM8.80 (originally RM10.80)
I found that the sashimi shrink abit after the Japanese disaster. oopz.. but any how the taste is still good!!

Miso Shiru @ RM2.80
Hot miso soup is a must if you did not order any bento set. Generous of tofu cube and seaweed inside.

Wasabillar Roll @ RM8.80 (ori. RM12.80)
I thought the green beads are wasabi, but i can't taste it. Just something funny that will burst in your mouth when you bite on it. It's a fresh salmon roll like a caterpilar with 2 fish roe as the eyes. Cute !!

Raw Salmon and tempura crumbs in between.

Assorted sushi plate

Sushi Zanmai's sushi plate starts from RM1.80 till RM6.80
Jellyfish @ RM6.80

Price are average and i feel its cheaper than most of the Japanese Restaurants in KL with this quality of Japanese Food. Further, they provide Small and Large portion for bentos and noodles which are suitable for ppl/ladies who do not eat much, yet paying less and food are not wasted.

Estuary Grouper (龙趸) Fish Noodle @ Tmn Industri Sungai Buloh

Estuary Grouper or Giant grouper, is the largest bony fish found in coral reefs. - Wikipedia

Surprised to find Estuary Grouper (龙趸) Fish at a normal hawker stall at Taman Industri Sungai Buloh. The food court (kopitiam) is just located next to EONBank Sungai Buloh branch.

One of the fish ball noodles stall sells estuary grouper (龙趸) which are rarely find in Chinese Restaurant and normally is extremely expensive !!!

I order the estuary grouper with kueh teow noodle. Advise by dad that the top part of the grouper is nicer, which contains meat and collagen (near the skin). There is no fishy smell at all, meat is like bouncing (彈牙) haha if you tried it before estuary grouper meat is like chewing gum but its not hard. (i don't know how to describe hahhaa)

This bowl of noodle comes with some normal fish noodle ingredients: seaweed and vegetables. The keuh teow is smaller in size and the soup is light not salty enough, but you are given the normal soy sauce and chili to add on. All things are average and the specialties i think is just the estuary grouper fish.

This big bowl of estuary grouper 龙趸 fish noodle cost RM20.00. Which i think is worth for a try. They also have Red grouper (七星斑) too, at a cheaper price of RM14.00. Besides that they also serve normal fish ball noodle and estuary grouper fish ball noodle at RM5.50 only.

Some newspaper cut at the fish noodle the stall.

Okay back to the food court (kopitiam). It is 2 shoplot adjoining food court, its usually packed with customer during lunch hour because of the industrial area there. I feel so hot and sweat after eating my bowl of noodle as i think their ventilation is not so good.

other orders beside my fish noodle
white coffee ice @ RM2.00

2 rolls of chee cheung fun wrap with seng kuang in it and a piece of fu juk, comes with curry sauce and sweet sauce @ RM3.40

Sushi Tomo Japanese Restaurant (壽司。友) @ SS2

I think this is an one and only original Japanese Restaurant in SS2 area. It was located at the SS2 square, same row as Wong Kong Char Chan Teng and EON Bank. Heard that this shop is owned by a Japanese with his Korean wife.

Set Lunch Menu (click to enlarge)

Unagi Soba Set @ RM19.50

unagi is fresh but roughly bit too thin.

Soba

Unagi Age Bento @ RM18.90

unage with sweet sauce and top with fish roe

Salmon Set @ RM19.50

Chicken Mayo Set @ RM19.50

Green Tea is RM1.50 each.

The food portion is smaller and taste is at par but with the price they are charging, it can be better.

Latest KFC Lunch Treats @ No Famous Bowl

Every morning will tuned on myFm radio station while driving to work. The KFC advertisement caught my attention a few times. The new KFC lunch treats starts from RM4.95 from 12pm - 3pm.

Set A for RM4.95
- 1 KFC Famous Bowl
- 1 (R) Carbonated Drink

Set B for RM5.95
- 1 Colonel Burger Stacker
- 1 (R) Fun Fries
- 1 (R) Carbonated Drink

Set C for RM5.95
- 1 piece Chicken
- 1 Colonel Chicken Rice
- 1 (R) Coleslaw
- 1 (R) Carbonated Drink

Went to Malaysia's 100th KFC outlet ~ SS2 last week for a try on their new Famous Bowl.

However, i was quite disappointed. The famous bowl was totally different in terms of appearance and not up to par!! or may be my expectation to them is too high? haha

the ''plastic bowl'' with no KFC logo. the food is pre-heat in their storage. The gravy sunk inside had make the chicken rice so soft and wet. Miserable chunks of fried chicken was soft and not the skin no longer crunchy. The chicken is quite tasteless anyway. I feel i was like eating baby (porridge) food >.<

I think it will be more delightful if they fresh prepared after someone make their order at the counter. What is so hard to prepare an easy meal like this? No point of pre-prepared and pre-heat and make everything soaked in their plastic ''no famous bowl''.

My CookBook @ Sunway Giza Mall, Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara {CLOSED DOWN}

There are many Restaurants and Cafes opening in Sunway Giza Mall, Dataran Sunway. Recently there is a fresh Trendy Restaurant - My CookBook newly open at the Centre Court, next to Beer Factory and opposite of Full House Cafe .

The modern outlook design and unique restaurant name attracted me to walk in for my Sunday Brunch. My CookBook serves modern Malaysian Cuisine. The food and its presentation reflects a mix of malaysian most popular yet daily craving cuisines.

Their slogan: ''from MY Heart to Your Plate'' makes you feel warming. ('MY' must be shortform of My CookBook)

Selections of Set Lunch menu of 3 course meal (Appetizer, Main Course and Drinks).
Price range between RM18.90 ~ RM29.90.

Interior Deco is white, clean and cozy.

Unique deco of all the kitchen utensils hanging on the wall.

Appetizer - Amuse Bouche (Chef's Choice)
Slightly more solid Pouched egg with Smashed potato at the bottom. Something different from normal appetizer.

Drinks: MY Home-Made Chilled Sour Plum Juice (ala-carte RM5.90)
Taste something like 烏梅汁 (black plum) I tried in Taiwan. The pre-iced sour plum avoids the drink to be diluted. It makes me feel cooling and refreshing especially Malaysia's hot weather.

Hot LemonGrass Juice (ala-carte RM5.90) -
The aroma of lemon grass is strong. Nice drinking.

King Prawn n Noodles in Butter and Milk Cream Sauce (ala-carte RM26.90)
The king prawn is fresh and the meat is really bouncing (彈牙) plus juicy with the aromatic prawn's head (蝦膏) sauce. The noodle was stir fried with the butter and milk cream. I can taste butter milk crab in it!! (probably due to the freshness seafood prawn taste and the curry leaves).

Barley Pandan Rice with CookBook Curry Chicken and Moon-Face Wanton (very long name indeed) (ala-carte RM15.90)
Rice was mixed with barley and pandan. Curry chicken not very spicy that suits me alot. There are prawns in the Wanton too. Loving their half melted boiled egg !!

Last but not least, MY dessert is a must to try.
Barley and Soya Bean Milk with Sesame Ice Cream and Peanut Beancurd - RM9.90
First sip of the soya milk taste rich but not sweet at all. However, the next mouth which I mix with some ice cream or peanut beancurd, can really feel the ommmphhh !! The sweetness of ice cream and beancurd carries out the soya milk taste. Something to highlight was the barley hidden inside the soya milk. Enjoying biting the barley and it's like eating the ''腐竹薏米糖水'' Soya Barley Tong Sui, which was my favourite dessert. Hhahahaa

Really enjoy my food in My CookBook. Will definitely visit again to try other dishes, especially the 45-mins pouched egg !! Price are slightly higher compared to normal Malaysian food but their method of cooking and presentation are totally different. Worth trying for a special and modern local cuisine.

Their wine list features wines from around the world and also a range of unique jap beers like asahi, liquors, coffees, teas and other soft drinks. MY are located 3 floors altogether. Ground and first floor for normal dine-in and 2nd floor is a ''Private Room'' for events or party.

* This is a PORK FREE restaurant. *
